The world’s in the grip of the novel virus, SARS-CoV-2, causing the disease now known as Covid-19.
Scientific and medical experts, the ones who devote their time to studying viruses and the spread of infectious diseases, are telling us they don’t fully understand it yet and that their knowledge of its behaviour and of our immune response to it is evolving daily.
Those same experts are telling us there is no known treatment or cure beyond isolating the infected from the rest of us, and that they are doing their best to uncover treatments and develop a vaccine.
Most of us are not scientists, let alone epidemiologists who study infectious diseases, so we need to rely on the advice of our national scientific and medical experts and hope for the best.
If their information was all we had to go on, I think the level of fear and hysteria surrounding the pandemic would be somewhat more muted than it currently is.
